Book Tag: Book Buying Habits Tag

Hey everyone!
Today I thought I would do a tag. I have a love hate relationship with tags, but this one looked like it would fun! The Book Buying Habits Tag was created by Megan Olivier in November 2013. I wasn't tagged by anyone to do this tag, but I hope you enjoy anyway!
1. Where do you buy your books from?
My go to place to buy a new release would be Amazon because of their discounted prices, but I also shop from other websites and stores that have discounted prices (i.e. bookoutlet). As a undergraduate student, I don't have a large income coming in, so I like to keep my book buying as cheap as I can.
2. Do you ever pre-order books? If so, do you do this in store or online?
I don't pre-order books very often. I usually only do it if there is a book that I really want to read, and I want it in my hands immediately. If I do pre-order, I do it on Amazon because of my 2-day free shipping.
3. On average, how many books do you buy a month?
This one really depends on the type of mood I am in that month. Though I really love buying books, I can go months without buying any and then buy 3o in one month (Yes I have done this before). On average, if I am allowing myself to buy on a regular bases its between 5-10. This varies based on if Bookoutlet is stocked with books I have had my eye on.
4. Do you used your local library? If so, how my books can you/do you borrow at a time?
I only use my local library for audiobooks. I find that I really dislike borrowing from the library because I don't like making the 30 minute trip from my house when I need to return them. I use the overdrive app, and normally I only have 1 audiobook out at a time.
5. What is your opinion on library books?
I think that the library is a great way to read for free, but I never used the library until I started college. This has caused me to develop this bad habits of only buying books.
6. How do you feel about charity shop/second hand books?
This is my favorite way to buy books for cheap. I think that these places hold some of the best gems. I bought all of my Harry Potter books in hardcover second hand and spent $30 at most.
7. Do you keep your read and TBR pile together/on the same book shelf or not?
I actually keep them separate! I like to keep all my books together in their respected genre/series/author (if possible).
8. Do you plan to read all of the books that you own?
At some point in my life, I would like to have read all the books I own, but I know that will not happen. I have a large TBR pile, and that is okay with me. I know that I will continue to buy books until the day I die, so I know that I will never finish all the books I've put on my shelves.
9. What do you do with books you that you own that you feel you will never read/felt you did not enjoy?
I usually sell them to either second hand stores or give them to my friends.
10. Have you ever donated books?
I haven't donated, but I've gave them to my friends and family if that counts.
11. Have you ever been on a book buying ban?
I have, but I've released that I only did it because that was what I felt like everyone else thought I needed to do and not what I wanted to do.
12. Do you feel that you buy too many books?
I feel like I buy enough books to make me happy and that is enough for me.

If you're interested in doing this tag, then I tag you! Leave the link in the comments, so I can check it out. Happy reading =)

  1. I have a huge limit on the books I can buy because the price can really add up on my job-less self. The Overdrive app is my LIFESAVER because I borrow the ebooks from my library without the hassle of having to drive all the way there and all the way back. They have such a great selection too!

    1. I like to read physical copies, so even though I have the overdrive app, I don't use it too much. I have a summer job while I'm home and then I also have a job while at school. I try to buy discounted or used books over new copies!

  2. this was a great tag! I completely agree on second hand book shops, it's how I buy most of my books also. It's so much cheaper than buying them new, and lots of times there is a great selection
